Isabela-based 5th ID also on heightened alert

From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 6): Isabela-based 5th ID also on heightened alert

The Isabela-based 5th Infantry Division has placed all its units on heightened alert in support of President Rodrigo Duterte's declaration of "state of lawlessness" following Friday's Davao night market bombing that killed 14 and wounded scores of others.

The 5th Infantry Division covers all of Region 2 and the Cordilleras.

"The focus of the heightened alert is to intensify information collection and conduct measure in coordination with Philippine National Police (PNP) to preempt the occurrence of bombing incident," unit commander Brig. Gen. Paul Atal said in a statement Tuesday.

In spite of the intensified alert, the 5th Infantry Division commander urged the public to remain calm since the situation in Northern Luzon is very stable.

Atal assures the public that they are closely working with PNP counterparts to ensure peace and order in the communities.
