From GMA News (May 6): Rebel returnee shot dead in Cebu
A rebel returnee was killed in a shooting incident on Thursday in Cebu, a television report said Friday.
GMA News' Lou Anne Mae Rodina on Unang Balita identified the victim as Rene Cangmaong.
Citing initial information, Rodina said the victim was driving his motorbike in Tuburan town when suspect Luduvico Oroquero shot him in ambush.
Authorities caught up with Oroquero in a followup operation.
While in police custody, the suspect denied having a hand in the Cangmaong slay, but he yielded different types of firearms and ammunition, the report said.
Police are also looking into the possibility that the suspect is a member of private armed group, it added..
