CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – “Purely political propaganda”, this was the statement made by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesperson BGen Restituto Padilla on the social media post on alleged military officers campaign against a presidential candidate.
In an interview by DWDD with BGen Padilla, he stated that in an election season, numerous political propaganda both for and against certain candidates is expected to surface from all fronts and parties.
General Padilla reiterated that the mandate of the AFP and the instruction of the acting Chief of Staff Gen Glorioso Miranda is clear that all officers and enlisted personnel should stick with their mission and remain non-partisan on ths political exercise.
The AFP leadership trust that its men and women remain professional in the conduct of their duty to God, Country and their Fellow Filipino, especially in their duties during the coming May 9 National and Local election.
He added that this kind of videos remains a propaganda material for those who wish to stain the image of the organization and entice them into partisan politics.
An investigation will be conducted by the AFP as to the group, party or individuals involved in the production of the said video as to make them accountable for their actions.
Likewise, he called on all peace-loving Filipinos, specially the netizens, to refrain from entertaining similar videos as this will only dignify/glorify the groups wrongdoings. AES / MCAG
