In line with its community development efforts, the Army General Hospital
in Fort Bonifacio ,
Taguig City will be helping non-government
organization Brother Operation Sweet Smile (B.O.S.S.), conduct free surgical
mission to adult and children with cleft lip and palate from March 9-11.
Philippine Army (PA) spokesperson Col. Benjamin Hao said
military personnel and their civilian employees suffering from these
deformities are encouraged to avail of the free medical service.
"They (B.O.S.S.) will provide doctors who will perform
the operation, and the X-Ray films, anesthesia and other medical supplies
needed, including pre and post operation medicines. Laboratory tests, X-rays,
ECG and other tests will be carried out at the Army General Hospital ,"
he added.
The B.O.S.S. first partnered with the PA in 2011.
The mission was first held at the 1st Infantry Division in
Zamboanga with 82 patients successfully operated.
The team also conducted three other activities again in the
1st Infantry Division, 4th Infantry Division in Cagayan De Oro City, and Army General Hospital .
The sweet smile project has already benefited 308
individuals.
Lt. Gen. Eduardo M Año, PA chief, commended B.O.S.S. for
their invaluable service to their countrymen by providing free surgical
restoration to indigent citizens of Mindanao
and other parts of the Visayas with cleft lip and palate deformities.
