From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Mar 15): AN NPA PROPAGANDA II IED Explosions in Masbate

CAMP GUILLERMO NAKAR, Lucena City (DWDD) The New People’s Army blew up four (4) Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in four different areas in Masbate Island morning of March 15, 2015.

903rd Infantry Brigade Commander Colonel Fernando R. Trinidad said the 1st explosion was reported at 4 a.m. in Brgy Miaga, Uson, Masbate; 2nd explosion was at 5 a.m. in Brgy. Tunga, Esperanza, Masbate; 3rd explosion was at 7:10 a.m in Loving Forest Memorial Garden alongside of National Highway in Brgy. Malinta, Masbate City; and a 4th explosion at 7:15 a.m. alongside National Highway in Purok 5, Brgy Tabuc, Mobo, Masbate.

No one was reportedly hurt caused by the four explosions. “These explosions are propaganda tactics to sow fear to the people,” said Colonel Trinidad.

He assured that Army units in the island province are doing their best to ensure the safety of the MasbateƱos against the NPA’s abuses and terror acts.

Southern Luzon Command Chief Lieutenant General Ricardo R. Visaya said that the explosions are in connection to the NPA Anniversary on March 29.

“The NPA is a diminishing group in Southern Luzon, as such; they resort to terror acts like these IED explosions to project that they are still strong,” said Lieutenant General Visaya. At present there are 36 NPAs being hunted by SOLCOM units in Masbate Province. Josephine Jaron Codilla / MCAG
