CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Lieutenant General Glorioso Miranda AFP assumed as the new Vice Chief of Staff of Armed Forces of the Philippines in a change of chief of office ceremony.
The ceremony was presided over by AFP Chief of Staff General Hernando Iriberri in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
Lt. Gen. Miranda received the symbols of authority of the VCSAFP from outgoing VCSAFP Lt. Gen. Romeo Tanalgo.
Lt. Gen. Miranda was previously the commander of the AFP Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) since August 2015. He received his third star last January 18, 2016.
Miranda is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Matikas” Class of 1983 and was previously the commander of the Army’s 7th Infantry Division based in Nueva Ecija in 2015. Before becoming 7th ID commander, Miranda was the camp commander of Camp Aguinaldo.
Miranda is also a Scout Ranger, a paratrooper, an infantry and intelligence officer. He has a Master’s Degree in National Security and Business Administration.
He also led the Army’s 25th Infantry Battalion, 1002nd Brigade where he saw action during the government’s all-out war against the MILF in Central Mindanao in 2000. He was instrumental in the capture of dozens of MILF camps, including the MILF headquarters Camp Abubakar.
He also served as Dean of Academics of the AFP Command and General Staff College and later on the General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command at Camp Aguinaldo.
He received several awards such as the Distinguished Conduct Star, four Distinguished Service Stars and four Gold Cross Medals.
Miranda holds master’s degrees in national security and business administration and finished command trainings in the United Kingdom and Singapore.
