CAMP SERVILLANO AQUINO, Tarlac (DWDD) – Lieutenant General Romeo Tanalgo AFP has assumed as the new Commanding General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines – Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM).

He replaced Lieutenant General Glorioso Miranda AFP.

The ceremony was presided over by AFP Chief of Staff General Hernando Iriberri in a change of command ceremony at NOLCOM Headquarters at Camp Servillano Aquino, Tarlac City, Tarlac.

Lt. Gen. Tanalgo received the symbols of authority from outgoing NOLCOM commander Lt. Gen. Miranda.

The new NOLCOM commander is a seasoned Marine combatant, his experiences in the field saw his significant rise in the chain of the AFP. Initially, he served as Platoon Leader of 6th Marine Company, Marine Battalion Landing Team-6; Company Commander of 46th Marine Company, Marine Battalion Landing Team-6; Commanding Officer of Marine Battalion Landing Team-5; Commander of 2nd Marine Brigade; and Commander, Joint Task Force Sulu.

He graduated from Philippine Military Academy in 1983. His military awards include the Distinguished Service Stars, Gawad sa Kaunlaran, Gold Cross Medals, Bronze Cross Medals, Military Merit Medals, and Military Commendation Medals.

He was also selected as one of The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS) in 2009 by Metrobank Foundation. Notably, by spearheading the “OPLAN MATIKAS” which served as the roadmap for cultivating peace and development in Sulu, he received the Civil Service Commission Presidential Lingkod Bayan Award in 2012 and the Metrobank Foundation’s Award for Continuing Excellence in Service (ACES) in 2013 for his outstanding accomplishments and excellence in public service.

Complementing his work experience are the advance civilian and military courses he has completed locally and abroad. He earned his Master in Development Management from the Asian Institute of Management, Master in Maritime Studies from University of Wollongong, Command and Staff Course, and Joint Warfare Course, all in Australia.
