The Armed Forces of the Philippines
and the United States
military will hold the Balikatan training exercise in Antique and Capiz
provinces on April 11-15.
Lt. Col. Enriqueto Deocadez, Jr., commander of the 82nd
Infantry Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, said in an
interview that the concept of the training exercise is to enhance military
capability in terms of territorial defense whenever there is foreign
aggression.
Around 300 personnel from the US military and 200 from the AFP
will take part in the exercise, Deocadez said.
Advanced parties are expected to be in San Jose de
Buenavista, the assembly area, starting April 4.
Disaster response will also be part of the training
exercise.(
