MAGUINDANAO - Abdullah Hamsa spoke to ABS-CBN NEWS Central Mindanao Monday after almost a month of being detained in Ma-a Davao City Jail on multiple frustrated homicide charges.
Hamsa claimed he is not the bomber behind the blasts in Sasa Wharf and Ecoland Terminal in Davao City.
The suspected bomber was earlier identified as Abdul Manap Mentang.
Hamsa was arrested by the elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detention Unit - ARMM and 4th Infantry Battalion last November 11 at Barangay Panatan in Pigkawayan, North Cotabato.
Hamsa said he is a victim of mistaken identity and the true suspect is still on the loose.
Regional Trial Court Branch 33 Judge Lope Calio approved his release order after he posted a P100,000 bail.
In a phone conversation, his lawyer Atty. Oscar Breva said the prosecution lacks sufficient evidence identifying Hamsa as Abdul Manap Mentang.
Hamsa said authorities might be only after the reward money. The CIDG-Central Mindanao, however, said it is only work and not about the money.
It also insisted that it was not a case of mistaken identity.
Hamsa said he still believes in the justice system and is hopeful that one day, the truth will come out.
He also said his conscience is clear and he has nothing to do with the bombings in Davao City.
Hamsa said he is a legitimate member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, which was confirmed through a text message by MILF-BIAF spokesman Von Al-Haq.
Hamsa was presented to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte a day after his arrest.
He also thanked Duterte, as well as the members of the CIDG-11, for treating him fairly and having him undergo due process.
