A new video purportedly released by Islamist militants in the southern Philippines demands a ransom for the release of Robert Hall and John Ridsdel of Canada and Kjartan Sekkingstad of Norway. A third woman in the video, who appears Filipino, does not speak. It is unclear if she is a hostage, too.

The video is a follow-up to another video demanding ransom released mid-October. According to CNN:
The abductions took place on the evening of September 21 at the Oceanview Resort on Samal Island, which lies off the coast of the major southern island of Mindanao, according to the official Philippines News Agency.
Mindanao, also known as the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, is composed of five predominantly Muslim provinces. Abu Sayyaf, which seeks to establish an Islamic caliphate in the Philippines, operates in these regions. They may or may not have connection to the Islamic State.

According to international terrorism watchdog group Terror Monitor, they allegedly recently killed a South Korean hostage in the Sulu province of the Philippines.
