From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 4): Military task group confirms 2 ASG brigands killed in latest Sulu clash

The military has confirmed that the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) brigands have lost two followers and one was injured in clash that occurred Monday in the province of Sulu.

Monday’s clash was the latest so far as the focus military operation continues against ASG brigands in Sulu. Three soldiers were wounded in the clash.

Brig. Gen. Alan Arrojado, Joint Task Group Sulu commander, told the Philippines News Agency on Wednesday that the ASG casualties was confirmed through intelligence gathering.

Arrojado said the slain ASG brigands were identified as Timhar Jauhari, a resident of Barangay Darayan, Patikul, and Munar Abdulhair of Barangay Maligay of the same town.

Arrojado said wounded was Jani Kamlun of Barangay Tanum, Patikul.

The clash ensued around 1:45 p.m. Monday in Barangay Liang, Patikul town while the troops encountered a group of 20 ASG brigands led by Ninok Sapari while on combat mission in the area.

The ASG brigands fled towards Barangay Tugas, Patikul, upon sensing the arrival of government troops’ reinforcements.

The government troops have launched FMO (focus military operation) targeting the senior leaders of the ASG brigands as well their foreign cohorts in Sulu.
