From the Manila Bulletin (Nov 9): ASG releases 2 Malaysian nationals for P30-M

The militant Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Sulu province freed Thien Nyuk Fun and Bernard Ghen Ted Fen, late Sunday night, November 8, 2015, in Indanan, Sulu after the victim‘s family allegedly paid their balance of P30 Million to the group.

A military report said a certain Malaysian Captain Hassim brought the money  to Sulu and was met by a confidante who took the money from him and brought it to the ASG in exchange of the safe release of the two hostages.

The money was allegedly received by ASG Sub-Leader Alhabsy Misaya, Alden Bagade, and Angah Adji in exchange for the safe release of Thien Nyuk Fun, 50 and Bernard Ghen Ted Fen who the group  kidnapped on May 14, 2015.

The report said Thien Nyuk Fun a Chinese-Malaysian national and  owner of Ocean King  Restaurant in Sandakan,  Malaysia together with Bernard Ghen Ted  Fen were  released at about 10 pm at Sitio Pakasah, Barangay Bud Taran in Indanan, Sulu, one of the stronghold site of the ASG in the province.
