Officials from the Sajahatra Bangsamoro, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWD), Long Island Builders contractor and representative from the local government unit of Datu Tungawan conducted a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a 2-kilometer farm-to-market road at Camp Salman, Datu Tumangung, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay on September 23.
This is the first ever project of the DPWH to be implemented in the barangay worth of ₱19.9 Million Pesos.
Dir. Hadzer Beroya of OPAPP said that the farm-to-market road project is vital for the delivery of farm products to the town area.
“Not only MILF members who will benefit from the project, but the indigenous people as well, and the rest of non-Muslims will benefit from it, said Beroya.
Engr. Manawis of DPWH committed to expedite the release of funding for the construction of the road.
Engr. Manawis hopes to complete the project before the forth coming election ban.
Some key officers of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) from Camp Salman also witnessed the ground breaking ceremony.
They were thankful to the leadership of the MILF and the government for coming up with a solution to their nagging problem on poor access to the town proper for the delivery of their farm products.
The project will help improve the socio-economic development of all residents in the area.
