From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 14): Ranking US military commander in town

With Balikatan 2015 barely a week away, a ranking US military commander formally paid a visit to Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Gary M. Brito, 25th Infantry Division deputy commanding general, was formally welcomed by Joint Task Force-National Capital Region head Brig. Gen. Apolinario Alobba.

Brito is in the Philippines to meet with his counterparts regarding Balikatan 2015.

The 25th Infantry Division, a unit of the US Army Pacific, will be participating in this annual combined training with the Philippine Army and Philippine Marine Corps.

The 25th Infantry Division is based in Hawaiian Islands.

Members of 25th Infantry Division will be training shoulder-to-shoulder with JTF-NCR.

For the purpose of the exercise, the latter will be transformed into the Joint Rapid Reaction Force, composed of the battalions from the Philippine Army and the Philippine Marine Corps, as well as naval and air units from the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Air Force.

The Philippine and US Forces will conduct amphibious, mechanized, combat air support and air assault operations in Zambales and culminating in combined artillery live fire exercise, at Crow Valley, Tarlac.
