The Philippine Army (PA) announced it is joining the rest of
the country as it celebrates Women's Month this March.
This year’s celebration with the theme, “Juana, Desisyon Mo
ay Mahalaga sa Kinabukasan ng Bawat Isa, Ikaw na”, aims to pay tribute to all
women leaders who passionately led and continue to advance women’s advocacies.
Among the highlights of the Army’s month-long celebration is
the Simultaneous Men’s Forum on Laws on Women: Men Oppose to Violence Against
Women Everywhere (MOVE) Advocacy Orientation and the Recognition of Women’s
First in the Philippine Army.
About 300 male personnel from Headquarters Philippine Army
and Philippine Army Major Units are expected to attend the forum, which aims to
deepen and widen men’s understanding on laws on women.
Awards and recognition will also be given to women personnel
of the PA, both military and civilian, who exemplified remarkable achievements
in the service.
The Army will also participate in the photo contest
organized by the Philippine Commission on Women.
The photo entries will be displayed in the month-long photo
exhibit from March 16 to April 16, 2015 at the Philippine Army Officers Club
House in Fort Bonifacio ,
Taguig City .
Meanwhile, in its effort to advocate women’s rights and in
support to the national government’s programs and initiatives on women, Army
personnel will likewise join in the simultaneous Nationwide Street Dance at the
Quezon Memorial Circle
on March 8 and the simultaneous Flag Raising on March 9.
The Philippines
has been observing the month of March as the National Women’s Month for 25
years now since the year 1990.
The Philippines
also joins the worldwide celebration of the International Women’s Day which is
being celebrated on March 8 every year, with this year’s United Nations theme,
“Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture It.”
