An improvised bomb was set off by still unidentified men in
front of a civil military office of the 6th Infantry Division here Tuesday
night.
Nobody was hurt in the 7:30 p.m. blast a few meters away from
the CMO office at PC Hill, Cotabato City , according to Senior Supt. Rolen Balquin, Cotabato City police director.
Responding Army and police bomb experts recovered one ounce
of C4 bomb component, 9 volts battery and fragmented circuit.
Balquin said the blast was light and it appeared the motive
was to sow fear among the residents and passersby.
Police could not say as of yet who was behind the explosion
and whether or not it was related to the on going military action in
Maguindanao.
Balquin has appealed to the city residents to remain
vigilant because peace saboteurs could strike anytime or simply sow terror
among the residents.
