500 AFP personnel to join fun run for fallen SAF men

From the Philippine News Agency (Mar 13): 500 AFP personnel to join fun run for fallen SAF men

Around 500 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will join the Philippine National Police in the fun run showing support for the families and loved ones of the 44 Special Action Force (SAF) members killed while neutralizing Malaysian terror bomber Zulkipli bin Hir last Jan. 25.

Dubbed as “One Run: Run as One for SAF44 Families,” soldiers, policemen, and civilians will conduct a fun run on Sunday for the benefit of the bereaved families.

“This is part of our continuing expression of sympathy and support not just to the families, but also to the friends and comrades of our brave policemen,” AFP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Joselito E. Kakilala said.

The event will begin at 5:45 a.m. with a short program at White Plains Avenue near the People Power Monument along Epifanio Delos Santos Ave. (EDSA), Quezon City.

Participants could join in any one of the three categories, namely 3k, 5k, and 10k.

One Run is made possible in partnership with the Rotary Club of Quezon City, the Upsilon Sigma Phi Alumni Association, and other socio-civic organizations.

The event aims to raise additional financial support for the families of the fallen SAF men.

Some 2,000 runners are expected to participate in the run.

Interested participants may visit the official website of the event at www.onerun.ph for registration.
