Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has advised the public to
remain calm but vigilant as the authorities are on top of the situation.
Salazar’s advised came after a bomb exploded shortly after 3
p.m. Friday near the bus terminal in Barangay Guiwan, this city.
Latest police report showed that one person died while 33
others were wounded, including a policeman, who is detailed at the bus
terminal.
The lone fatality expired at a private hospital while under
medical treatment.
However, the local police said they have yet to ascertain
the exact number of the victims.
At the same time, Salazar ordered the police and military to
hasten the post-blast investigation to be able to re-open the highway.
The police and military forces closed the highway and
diverted traffic route to pave way for the post-blast investigation.
“We have to go back to normalcy as soon as possible,”
Salazar said citing the need to re-open the highway.
She directed City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos and
City Social Welfare and Development Officer Socorro Rojas to provide the needed
assistance to the victims.
