From ABS-CBN (Jan 24): LOOK: Plantation in Bukidnon attacked by alleged NPA rebels

Suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) attacked a banana plantation in Lilingayon, Valencia, Bukidnon last Tuesday, authorities said.

Photos released by the local police to ABS-CBN News on Friday show a facility in the plantation owned by Dole totally burned down.

About 770 banana trees in the firm's plantation were also cut by the alleged rebels.
No one was reported injured in the incident.

According to Bukidnon police spokesperson Inspector Jiselle Longakit, about P1.4 million worth of properties were destroyed in the attack.

  1. The reason for the attack is probably the failure of the company to respond to the NPA demands for the payment of "revolutionary taxes" or good old fashioned protection money.
