The MILF Political Committee held ‘Speakers’ Pool Orientation’ on Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) on November 29, 2014 at the PACOMA Multi-purpose Hall in Parang, Maguindanao attended by mixed MNLF-MILF members, traditional leaders, professionals, academicians and women.
The activity was aimed at enhancing peace advocacy initiatives of different stakeholders through massive information campaign on the current situation specifically the normalization process and the BBL in support to public hearings being conducted by the Ad hoc Committee of the House of Representative.
Professor Adam Abdula from the Office of the Second Vice Chairman for Political Affairs of the MILF organized the activity supported by Abu Asma, Provincial Director of the Committee on Information of Iranun province.
Mr. Nas Pulindao, Information Officer from the Committee on Information gave inputs on the current situation particularly the Annex on Normalization and the importance of the BBL to the people of Mindanao. He made mention of the decommissioning process to be worked out by an Independent Decommissioning Body. He assured the audience that the aspiration of the Bangsamoro people for right to self-determination, the dawning of peace and development in Moro Homeland can be achieved if all of are determined and shall work hard.
The Bangsamoro Transition Commission - Communication Group (BTC-ComGroup) sent Jude Jaafar to discuss the salient provisions of the BBL. Mr. Jaafar spoke on parliamentary system and cited the example of Japanese Government. Also in the attendance was Haron Salah of BTC, ComGroup.
During the open forum some participants raised their concerns. Former Buldon Sangguniang Bayan member Abdulaziz Ragundo took notice of the importance of a political party as a way of winning majority seats by MILF in the Bangsamoro Parliament.
Commander Indar Carodin of Moro National Liberation Front said that he will exert efforts to strengthen his advocacy campaign for the BBL and support to Bangsamoro.
Commander Carodin is hopeful that the Bangsamoro Coordination Forum shall become the venue for the unity of the MILF and the MNLF.
