MILF: IOM – KDFI conduct series of advocacies on understanding CAB and BBL

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with the Kalilintad Development Foundation Incorporated (KDFI) and support from OIM-partner local non-government organizations such as MOSEP-Mindanao Organization for Social-Economic Progress; Muslim Youth religious Organization, Inc. (MYROi); the Central Mindanao Integrated Livelihood Assistance and Resource Development (CEMILARDEF); and the Mindanao Tulong Bakwet, Inc. (MTB) founded by Canada conducted series of advocacies on Understanding the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

The simultaneous advocacies were held in the provinces of Lanao Del Sur, Maguindanao and Lanao Del Norte. Similar programs were held at Sultan Kudarat and North Cotabato.

The advocacies in Balabagan, Lanao Del Sur, Mindanao State University-Maguindanao, Dalican, Datu Odin Sinsuat and at Igabai, Kapatagan, Lanao Del Norte were held on December 17, 2014. 

On December 18, 2014, the team of peace advocates held similar activities at the Municipality of Magsaysay, Lanao, Del Norte and Municipality of Pigcawayan, North Cotabato.

On December 19, 2014, advocacy programs were also held at Munai, Lanao, Del Norte and Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat. On December 22, 2014, they conducted another advocacy General Salipada K. Pendatun, Maguindanao.

The indefatigable Prof. Esmael A. Abdula, Training Officer and member of the Steering Committee of Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) and KDFI- Senior Program Officer and Training Consultant was the main speaker in some of these activities, while Mr. Edres S. Rasul of Iranon Province and Mr. Nasser S. Pulindao of Kutawato were the speakers in other activities.

They focused their presentations on the GPH-MIL Peace Process, the FAB and its four annexes; the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) and salient provisions of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

Mr. Felix P. Bandojo, Munai’s Municipal Development Risk reduction management Officer (MPDC-MDRRMO) said that some individuals missed important things in their lives for not attending the advocacies. He expressed his gratitude for the information and knowledge that were clearly explained by the speakers during the program.

 He requested for the conduct of similar activities for further understanding of the CAB and BBL by local residents in other villages of the municipality.  

Prof. Monir Bajunaid, IOM Consultant related the background of IOM and its role in Mindanao peace building in support to the GPH-MILF Peace Process.

Abdullah, KDFI Administrative Staff said in his closing remarks during the closing program at Munai, Lanao, Del Norte.
