LABANGAN, Zamboanga del Sur – The 1st Civil Military Operations (1CMO) “Mahigalaon” battalion, Philippine Army has underscored the vital role of stakeholders in achieving its mission to promote peace in Zamboanga Peninsula.

In his message delivered during a Christmas party held at the battalion headquarters here recently, Lt. Col. Aude Mangao, 1CMO battalion commander, invited various stakeholders such as the local government units, media, civil society and people’s organizations to help in accomplishing ICMO’s mission by actively supporting the programs and activities pursued by the battalion.

Mangao greatly valued the role of stakeholders in the successful implementation of Philippine Army’s Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) ‘Bayanihan” campaign saying that “without their active support and help, the campaign would not be successful.”

The 1CMO personnel also conducted in said gathering an audio-visual presentation on the Tabak troopers’ knowledge, skills and attitudes as civic or Bayanihan operators, the Tabak nowadays, Army Transformation Roadmap and IPSP Bayanihan.

Mangao said he considered this year’s celebration a unique one for the following reasons: first, the “Mahigalaon” troopers, which are composed of almost 70 percent Muslims, have decided to celebrate Christmas, second, the activity highlights the empowerment of non-commissioned officers (NCOs) who planned and prepared for the activity, and, third, the “Mahigalaon” troopers have showcased their singing and dance talents to the delight of the stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Col. Loreto Magundayao who represented Tabak Commander BGen. Gerardo Barrientos congratulated Mangao for actively performing his role as 1CMO battalion commander though he was just barely one month in office.

Sumptuous “Halal” foods were served during the party.

This year’s Christmas celebration carries the theme,  “Thanksgiving for Stakeholders and Tabak Troopers United Towards Peaceful, Progressive and Prosperous ZamPeLan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Basilan) provinces.”
