From ABS-CBN (Nov 8): Reds attack town hall, abduct mayor
Members of the New People's Army (NPA) on Friday attacked the municipal hall of Paluan, Occidental Mindoro and abducted its mayor and administrator.
According to SPO1 Nilo Poja of Occidental Mindoro Provincial Police Office, the rebels attacked the municipal hall at around 3:30 p.m.
The rebels, dressed as soldiers, pretended to inspect the municipal hall.
Around 50 members of the NPA abducted Paluan Mayor Carl Michael Pangilinan and administrative officer Engr. Carl Yambao.
Two unidentified individuals were killed and five others were wounded in the attack.
A few hours after the incident, authorities found Pangilinan and Yambao near Calauagan River, where they were abandoned by the rebels.
A follow-up operation was launched against the rebels.
