The officials and members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) expressed their full support and cooperation for the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) during a dialogue with MILF leaders spearheaded by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Yakan City Committee held at Barangay Matikang, Lantawan, Basilan Province on October 25, 2014.

MNLF officials and elements under the leadership of Commander Samma Dikang met with Hji Rashid J. Iklaman, Chairman of the MILF Yakan City Committee.

Iklaman in his statement said “we have been exerting efforts to reach out to our brothers with the MNLF so that we can have better understanding concerning the establishment of the Bangsamoro Government. Our main objective in the dialogue is to strengthen our cooperation and unity for the attainment of lasting peace and development in the Bangsamoro and in the country.”

Iklaman added “the objectives of the MILF and MNLF are the same that to regain the right to slef-determination of the Bangsamoro people through self-governance.”

The host Barangay chairman warmly welcomed the dialogue and coordination initiatives of the MILF in reaching out to MNLF and other groups. He also appealed, saying “if we want to attain peace we must vote yes to BBL.”

Tony D. Sakkalahul, theRregional Manager of Bangsamoro Development Agency zamBas Region was the resource person and facilitator of the dialogue.

Sakalahul cited the gains and milestones of the BBL In terms of the recognition of the Bangsamoro identity, powers, wealth and resources, territory waters. He said “these gains address the Bangsamoro assertion of the right to self- determination.”

“On our part we are committed to cooperate and support the Bangsamoro Law and Government,” Commander Samma said on his response message.

The dialogue was fruitfully concluded with remarks of replicating further dialogues between MILF, MNLF and the Moro constituencies. (reference: RTL)
