“This is to check and monitor those who would return to their homes. We put up checkpoints to ensure that they would not return,” he added.
Farnacio said the checkpoints were set up outside the six-kilometer radius permanent danger zone.
The 901st Infantry Brigade chief said that barangay tanods are helping them in manning the checkpoints.
"We want to prevent people from re-entering to check on their farms, gather wood, and hunt,” he added.
Farnacio said they have not encountered any problems so far except for some individuals trying to sneak back in.
