Despite
some delays being experienced in the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL),
the security situation in Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)-controlled areas
in Central Mindanao is still stable, 6th
Infantry Division commander Brig. Gen. Edmundo Pangilinan said Wednesday.
"The
security situation in Central Mindanao is very
good albeit we (still) have some skirmishing (with members of the Bangsamoro
Islamic Freedom Fighters and bandits ) in Reina Regente (Datu Piang,
Maguindanao). These people are harassing our troops based in Reina
Regente," he said in Filipino.
The
6th Infantry Division commander stated that this attacks are just meant to
derail the ongoing peace talks.
Pangilinan
stressed that they are still to monitor disenchantment from MILF ranks in their
area of operations.
"Our
relations with them (MILF) are still good," Pangilinan stated.
The
6th Infantry Division chief added that he also does not see the MILF, despite
the slowdown in the BBL passage, becoming a security threat.
