Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday reiterated his full support for the caravan for peace and development initiated by the Philippine Army, in tandem with multi-sectoral groups, in Negros Occidental.

Marañon said the peace and development caravan will continue, with Col. Jon Aying, 303 rd Infantry Brigade commander, identifying areas to be visited.

“We will always be there to support the effort of the Philippines,' Marañon, who was recently conferred the Bayanihan award by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, said.

The caravan for peace and development on Feb. 21 in Brgy. Puso, La Castellana, a joint effort of the provincial government of Negros Occidental, 11 th Infantry Battalion, 302 nd and the 303 rd Infantry Brigades, in tandem with various government agencies and non-government organizations, benefitted 1,273 barangay residents.

1Lt. Von Ryan Gomez, 11IB Civil Military Operations officer, said the Puso barangay residents availed of medical consultations, dental, massage, haircut and circumcision services, who were also given fruit-bearing and vegetable seedlings.

Brig. Gen. Francisco Patrimonio, 302 nd Infantry Brigade commander, in a statement, said that the AFP will continue to support and facilitate peace initiatives of the government in attaining peace, security and development in the community.*
