Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief-of-staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista on Wednesday has ordered the re-investigation on the case of a cadet who was recommended dismissed from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) after being allegedly found guilty of violating the "honor code."
"It has reached the attention of the chief-of-staff and he has ordered a reinvestigation," AFP public affairs office chief Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala said.
This was after the PMA honor committee forwarded the results of its investigation to then Academy head Vice Admiral Edgar Abogado who then forwarded it to the AFP chief.
He added that depending on the result of the re-investigation, the cadet, identified as Jeff Aldrin Cudia, can either be re-instated or dismissed.
Zagala said that ordering the re-investigation is well within the authority of Bautista as the latter has overall control and supervision of all units of the AFP.
Cudia was recommended dismissed from the PMA after it was reportedly found out that he was late for two minutes for his next class.
The re-investigation will be conducted by newly-appointed PMA superintendent Major Gen. Oscar Lopez.
Accounts of his dismissal reached Facebook after his foster parent, Ched Estigoy Arzadon, posted an account last Feb. 9 bewailing Cudia's dismissal for just being late for two minutes.
The former was supposed to graduate this March with honors.
