Abducted teacher calls superior

From the Sun Star-Zamboanga (Dec 23): Abducted teacher calls superior

A PUBLIC school teacher who was abducted by gunmen off shore Zamboanga City last week called her immediate superior, saying she is in good condition.

Cathy May Casipong, 23, was seized by at least 10 unidentified gunmen around 3 p.m. last Wednesday in the vicinity of Sitio Paraitan in the village of Limaong.

City Division of Schools officer-in-charge Superintendent Pedro Melchor Natividad on Monday said Casipong called her immediate superior last Friday and said not to worry about her.

Natividad said there were no demands made by the abductors and that Casipong’s teacher-in-charge failed to talk to any of the captors.

Casipong and four others were aboard a motorized banca on the way home to Limaong to the village of Vitali when the suspects aboard two motorized bancas appeared and seized her.

Casipong is one of the four teachers assigned in Sibogtok Primary School in the island village of Limaong.

The whereabouts of the victim was not immediately known until Friday when she called her immediate superior, Natividad said.
