Army urges stronger security ties with Nor Cot LGUs

From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 9): Army urges stronger security ties with Nor Cot LGUs

Brig. Gen. Ademar Tomaro of the Army’s 602nd Brigade in North Cotabato has urged stronger ties with the local government units (LGUs) in the province on countering security threats against lawless groups.

Tomaro made the call during Tuesday’s Cotabato Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting here.

Tomaro told 18 mayors in the province to improve the civilian participation in the exchange of information to authorities in order to establish sturdy security measures in their respective areas of responsibility.

North Cotabato Governor Emmylou Mendoza, concurrent CPOC chair, called on the meeting after the separate attacks launched by Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in remote villages of Midsayap, Tulunan, and M’lang towns last month.

After the attacks, military and police beefed up forces to secure the remote villages.
