The largest educational fund raising activity in the country, Alay Lakad, will push through on Sept 1, come rain or shine.

Highlighting the event is the Walk Parade, wherein its committee is tasked to plan, organize, execute and supervise the event.

Wescom commander Lt. Gen. Rustico O. Guerrero, designated as chairman of the Walk Committee of Alay Lakad 2013, ensures a well-organized walk parade from three assembly areas and will converge at the City Coliseum.

Guerrero said that for several years now, the Western Command and its OPCON and OPCOM units have been supporting this walk-for-a-cause event. He ensured that troops will participate in the Alay Lakad 2013 in cooperation with local government units, local government agencies, non-government organizations and academic institutions in the city of Puerto Princesa and province of Palawan.

The Alay Lakad project is an annual fund raising activity conducted by the Alay Lakad Foundation Inc to support and finance the socio-economic projects of the foundation particularly in the province of Palawan and for the country's out of school youth.

It will be conducted with the participation of the different government agencies, civic organizations and non-government organizations. This year's theme is "Lakad Bayan para sa Kapayapaan".

This year’s event will be participated by the provincial government of Palawan led by Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez and the latter committed to invite municipal mayors in the province and the three congressional representatives to join the activity, to generate more funds and awareness in other municipalities.
