The commanding general of the Philippine Army led the awarding of apartments for 10 officers and enlisted personnel here, the military said on Saturday.

Maj. Leo E. Bongosia, spokesperson of the army’s 4th Infantry Division, said that the apartments were part of the military’s program in uplifting the living conditions of army personnel working inside the major military installations in the country.

The army’s 4th ID based at Camp Evangelista here is one of the largest military installations in Mindanao. The army division covers the Caraga Region in Northeastern Mindanao and Region 10 in Northern Mindanao.

Bongosia said the military officers and personnel who availed of the housing project would pay the monthly premiums through an automatic monthly deduction of their quarters allowance.

He said that those whose actual residence were located outside Mindanao and those who renting outside the army camp were given priority.

During the awarding ceremony, the army’s commanding general Lt. Gen. Noel Coballes stressed that the housing program was intended to provide decent and affordable housing units to members of the Armed Forces, Bongosia added.
