From the Philippine Star (Jan 22): 4
dead, 6 wounded in clan war in Sultan Kudarat
At least four rebels have been killed while six others wounded in a clan war
involving two Muslim rebel commanders in Sultan Kudarat today, local police
said.
Fierce fighting erupted late Tuesday at Pinguaman village, Lambayong, a town
in Southern Philippine province of Sultan Kudarat, between the Commander
Bansil's 106th Base Command of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the
group's 105th Base Command led by Commander Bausad, town police commander Senior
Inspector Emerson Policarpio told Xinhua by phone. The police officer said the skirmishes left four dead and two wounded on
Bansil's side while four were injured in his opponent. More than 200 families
have fled from their homes for fear of their safety. "We are on alert and we are making ways it will not escalate," he added. According to Mr. Policarpio, Bansil and Bausad have long been locked in
dispute involving five hectares of land.
