From the Philippiine News Agency (Dec 27): 50 NPA rebels face multiple, frustrated murder raps

 Police officials recently lodged multiple charges against 50 suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels before the Isabela prosecutor’s office in connection with the killing of seven Army soldiers and wounding of eight others in an ambush on Nov. 17 in Mabbayad, Echague, Isabela. The communist guerrillas were indicted before the prosecutor’s office for seven counts of murder, eight counts of frustrated murder, five counts of attempted murder and robbery-in-band with violence and intimidation.

Among those charged were Sangay ng Partido Platoon-Gani rebel leader Romeo Cudal, Delilah Padilla, Maricel Remon, Harold Castillo, Joey Ramos and Sonny Pajarillo. Also indicted were Jomar Dela Cruz, Omit Impiel and Lakong Salvador, all surrenderees and placed under military custody at the 5th Infantry Division. Eleven others were named with aliases while other accused were still unidentified. The rest are still at large. Police attached verified complaints of witnesses and pieces of evidence.  Killed in the said ambush were seven soldiers. The Army soldiers were reportedly on patrol when waylaid by the rebels.
