From InterAksyon (Dec 26): 2 killed, 6 hurt in ambush on Cotabato City village chief
Two persons were killed and six others, including a child, were wounded when still unidentified gunmen ambushed a van carrying a village barangay captain and his relatives in Cotabato City Wednesday morning, police said. Superintendent Marlou Martinez, Cotabato City police spokesman, said the attackers fired on the vehicle of Barangay Rosario Heights 5 chairman Amil Sula happened on Don Rabago Street around 7:15 a.m. Martinez said Sula’s nephew, Sherasmine Salik Abdullah, 18, and van driver Paik Sultan, 21, died at the hospital to which the victims were rushed. The village chief, his wife Jenna, and their seven-year old child were wounded, the latter in critical condition. Also wounded were Muslima Mita Salik, 19, Baikan Salik Abdullah and Taya Macalnas. Martinez said scene of the crime operatives recovered “many” spent shells from various high-powered firearms. Police have yet to determine the motive for the attack.
