From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 2): Barangay chairman killed in Lanao del
Sur
A barangay chairman was shot and killed by three gunmen in the hinterlands of
Lanao del Sur, a military official disclosed Friday.
Army’s 51st Infantry Battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Ceasar Marlon
Yadao said the incident took place Wednesday in Barangay Lumbac, Bayang
municipality, Lanao del Sur.
Yadao identified the fatality as Subuh Abdulharim, the barangay chairman of
Bago-Ingud of the same municipality.
Yadao identified the suspects as Datu Otog Bolawan, Alemodin Madid, Nasser
Sultan and Satar Madid.
The suspects surrendered on Wednesday night after the military and police
launched joint pursuit operations, Yadao said.
Confiscated from the suspects’ possessions were three M-16 Armalite rifles
and an M-14 rifle with several rounds of ammunition, he said.
The suspects were turned over to the custody of the police for the filing of
appropriate charges, he said.
