From Xinhua (Oct 14): GPH, MILF peace pact to prop up efforts to tackle Abu Sayyaf
The signing of a framework agreement between the Government of the Philippines (GPH) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) could further strengthen the cooperation of the two parties to eliminate terrorist Abu Sayyaf Group in southern Mindanao region, a senior government official said on Sunday. Secretary Teresita Deles of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, in an interview via state-run radio station, said that contrary to the Abu Sayyaf, the MILF is an organization, which has a legitimate aspiration. "They (Abu Sayyaf) are a law enforcement problem and once we are okay with the other armed opposition or primarily the MILF, our capacity to address this problem will greatly be improved," she explained....
