From Rappler (Oct 28): 5 dead, 10 wounded in Sulu encounter

Government troops and members of the Abu Sayyaf group clashed in Sulu Sunday morning, October 28, leaving 5 people dead and 10 soldiers wounded. The clash occurred between a company of the Marine Battalion Landing Team 6 and an undetermined number of Abu Sayyaf members under Radullan Sahiron and Tahil Sali, Col. Randolph Cabangbang of the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) said. The marines were patrolling Barangay Bakong in Patikul at around 6:30 am, responding to a report of the presence of kidnap victims in the area, when they encountered the ASG. Three of the 5 casualties are members of the Philippine Marines, while one of the bandits killed was identified as a certain Kaisar. Maj Gen Rey C. Ardo, newly installed Westmincom commander, immediately ordered the dispatch of all available air and naval assets to support the troops on the ground, as well as to evacuate the casualties.
