The encounter transpired as the combined elements of Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) and 47th Infantry Battalion launched a Joint Enhanced Military Police Operation (JEMPO) against the aforementioned group at Brgy Campagao, Bilar, Bohol.

The firefight erupted at around 6:52 in the morning on February 23 and resulted in the death of five (5) NPA terrorists and the recovery of six (6) firearms including one (1) M653 assault rifle; one (1) R4 assault rifle; one (1) M16 rifle; and three (3) Cal. .45 pistols.

The notorious Domingo Compoc who has a bounty of 2.6 million is wanted for several cases including rebellion, homicide, attempted homicide, multiple murder, frustrated murder, and robbery.

Lieutenant General Benedict M Arevalo PA, the Commander of the Visayas Command lauded the troops as he expressed “This latest debacle of the CPP-NPA is a clear manifestation of our steadfast commitment on ending the local communist armed conflict in the Visayas region. May this send a message to the few remaining members of the CPP-NPA still hiding in the outskirt communities in the region. We will never stop, and we will continue to hunt you down until justice is served for all the atrocities you have committed to our country and people.”

He then attributed the latest accomplishment to the active support of the people and the strong bond of partnership with the different government agencies, “This recent success in our campaign was made possible by the active support of our people, who have been providing us with credible information leading to the demise of the CPP-NPA. Likewise, our ironclad partnership with the different government agencies, especially the PNP who have been our strong partner in ensuring the safety and security of our people in the entire Visayas region.”

Lt Gen Arevalo then concluded as he called upon the remnants of the CPP-NPA in the Visayas region to return to the folds of the law, “Our efforts will continue and will further intensify. We will never hesitate, and we will never back down. Heed the call of our government, lay down your arms now, and return to the folds of the law while you still can. Learn from the mistakes of your fallen comrades.”
