Ang Bayan Daily News & Analysis online propaganda posted to the PRWC Newsroom, the blog site of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) Information Bureau (Jul 7, 2023): 2 war games, magkasabay na inilulunsad ng US sa Pilipinas (2 war games, simultaneously launched by the US in the Philippines)

July 07, 2023

ENGLISH TRANSLATION: 2 war games, simultaneously launched by the US in the Philippines

An extensive war games or war training was opened by US forces in Philippine territory on July 6, in conjunction with Cope Thunder which is currently being launched at Clark Air Base in Pampanga. The two war games will last until July 21.

The Marine Aviation Support Activity (MASA) 2023 was opened in Taguig City by officials from the US Marines and Philippine Marines. It will involve 2,711 personnel and 43 air assets, and is said to be conducted for "tight integration of air assets in support of ground forces."

These war games include live fire training, bilateral air assault and airport seizure training, joint forward arming and refueling, and other aviation support operations. One of the things that will be done here is the sinking of a ship in the waters of San Antonio, Zambales on July 17. (This "exercise" has already been done under Balikatan 2023.)

Like Cope Thunder, the US launches MASA twice in a year.

These two, like the Balikatan launched in April, are part of the 500 activities agreed upon by US and Philippine military officials by 2023. This agreement was reached last year, after Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was installed in power. This nearly doubles the number of US activities launched in 2022. It coincides with the ramping up of construction on five previously agreed upon military bases under the EDCA, and the opening of an additional four locations.
