The 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing and the 505th Search and Rescue Group of the Philippine Air Force, together with their counterparts from the United States Air Force, took part in a two-day joint training exercise on Alternate Insertion and Extrication (AIE) and Search and Rescue Exercises (SAREX) from July 5 to 6, 2023, in Palaui Island and Naval Base Camilo Osias in Sta. Ana, Cagayan.The training focused on land and maritime insertions/extrications using techniques such as hoisting, fast-roping, and rope ladders. Meanwhile, the Jungle Warfare Rotary Wing SAREX involved recovering isolated personnel on Palaui Island, utilizing the Fast Rope Insertion Extraction System (FRIES) and hoist operations with the forest penetrators.
