ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat – Three members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) here have surrendered to police authorities in Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, over the weekend, police said Monday.

Col. Christopher Bermudez, Sultan Kudarat police director, said the three rebels turned themselves in to the municipal police office of Palimbang town on Saturday night.

“They surrendered two .38-caliber revolvers and a 12-gauge shotgun,” he said.

Bermudez said the surrenderers used to operate under the Baghdad Platoon of the NPA Guerrilla Front 73, Far South Mindanao Regional Committee.

The trio claimed that their group is “weakening” and will soon dissolve due to massive military operations, according to Bermudez, who lauded the Palimbang police for facilitating the surrender.

“We are also calling on the remaining members of the NPA to return to the folds of government and we assure to help them to live safely and peacefully,” he said.
