From the Visayan Daily Star (May 4, 2023): Renewed skirmishes rock Himamaylan hinterlands (By GILBERT P. BAYORAN)
Armed skirmishes between Army soldiers and suspected New People’s Army rebels ensued at about 5 p.m. yesterday in Sitio Paloypoy, Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.Initial reports from the police indicate that eight families residing near the encounter site have evacuated to safer grounds.
The encounter was confirmed by the Himamaylan City police.
There were reports that the running gun battle has made it to Brgy. Hilamonan, Kabankalan City.
However, there were no reports if there were injuries or casualties among the fleeing rebels.
