Police arrested a New People’s Army (NPA) leader for murder on Sunday morning, Feb. 19, in General Nakar town in Quezon province.The suspect was identified as Christopher Avellano, 24, a resident of Sitio Pinamaypayan, Barangay Umiray, General Nakar.
Avellano was the squad leader of Platoon 2 (YGM) and platoon leader of Larangan Yunit Girilya (LYG), Guerilla Front (GF)-Narciso, Sub-Regional Military Area 4-A (SRMA 4-A) of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC).
Police said the suspect was the most wanted person on the regional Level of the Police Regional Office 4-A (Calabarzon).
Avellano was arrested on a warrant issued by Judge Marylou P. Meneses, acting Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 65 in Infanta, Quezon on Sept. 2, 2021.
The suspect was involved in a series of encounters with government forces in General Nakar in 2015.
