From Panay News (Dec 16, 2022): Suspected rebels torch 2 cane trucks in Toboso (By DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA)

BACOLOD City – Two cane trucks were set on fire by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Toboso, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

The trucks, owned by a certain Teotimo Ballesteros Jr., sustained extensive damage, according to the Toboso Municipal Police Station.

The truck drivers witnessed the arson and immediately reported the attack to the police.

When the cops arrived, the two trucks already suffered damages pegged at around P600,000.

Police deduced that the arson attack was perpetrated by the NPA after recovering from the site a propaganda leaflet accusing the Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion of human rights violations.

Initial findings of the Toboso police revealed that failure to pay revolutionary taxes was the motive behind the attack.
