Kalinaw News: 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division Commander, Major General Benedict Arevalo commended the 79th Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion for capturing a female member of the Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) in an encounter in Calatrava, Negros Occidental

From Kalinaw News (Jul 7, 2022): 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division Commander, Major General Benedict Arevalo commended the 79th Infantry “Masaligan” Battalion for capturing a female member of the Communist NPA Terrorists (CNTs) in an encounter in Calatrava, Negros Occidental



“I am happy with the positive and noteworthy accomplishment of our troops which is vital in our campaign in ending Local Communist Armed Conflict not only in Negros Island but as well as to areas of Western and Central Visayas,” MGen Arevalo said.

Likewise, MGen Arevalo cited vigilance and cooperation of the local populace by giving our troops correct and timely information, which led to the capture of High Ranking NPA Amazon

“We appreciate the unending support and cooperation of the local populace for immediately informing our troops on the location and whereabouts of these communist terrorists,” he added.

Following the tip-off of the local populace, on July 6, troops of 79IB immediately conducted combat operations against more or less seven CNTs in Sitio Banwa Minatay, Brgy Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental at around 12:15 in the afternoon.

The 10-minute encounter resulted in the capture of a high-ranking female CNT identified as Isabelle Necesario alias Maoline/Nads/Diane/Idel, a Deputy Secretary of North Negros Front (NNF).


Troops recovered from the encounter site two (2) Rifle Grenades; two (2) Cal. 38; seven (7) Cal .38 live ammunition; one (1) Cal. 45 pistol; five (5) Cal. 45 live ammunition; five (5) flash drives; seven (7) cellphones (keypad); one (1) cellphone (Touchscreen); three (3) Pocket Wifi; subversive documents, medical supplies, three (3) Civilian bags containing NPA personal belongings and cash amounting to PhP3,740; one Hammock; one Poncho; assorted medicines; candies; coffee, and subversive documents with high intelligence value.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel J-jay Javines, Commanding Officer of 79IB, said that the cooperation of the Negrenses in the government’s campaign to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict helps thwart CTGs’ evil intentions in the area.
