From Panay News (Mar 12, 2022): Several residents in Isabela take the oath of allegiance (By Mae Singuay)
Following an encounter incident between the alleged members of the New People’s Army(NPA) rebels and the military in Barangay Amin, Isabela Negros Occidental on March 9, several residents have withdrawn their support against the rebels and took their oath of allegiance with the government troops.Second Lieutenant Mary Liza Joy De Guzman, a civil-military officer of the 62nd Infantry Battalion(62IB) said residents wherein the recent encounter occurred and resulted to neutralization of two members of the NPA cast-off their support against the rebels and took their oath of allegiance through “Panunumpa sa Kalinong”, as the 62IB and a former rebel conducted also the local peace engagement and insurgency awareness symposium.
During the activity, Major Alenel Valles, Battalion Executive Officer of 62IB expressed his appreciation to the local residents for the timely information they had given.
He emphasized that the successful operation was due to the courage and cooperation of the locals.
Noel Magquilat, Punong Barangay of Amin appreciated the effort of the army by providing them the right information, especially on the deceptive tactics and propaganda of the rebels, and educating them on the government program to rebel returnees, the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program or E-CLIP.
He also assured that his barangay will continue to support the authorities on its peace and development efforts and implementation of government programs.
