Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) executive director, Undersecretary Jose Joel Sy-Egco and three other individuals were formally commissioned as reserve officers of the Philippine Army (PA).
In a statement on Friday, the PA said its chief, Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon donned the ranks to the four in short ceremonies held on Wednesday.
Egco was commissioned as Major (Res). Joining him were Office of Civil Defense Director III Tecson John S. Lim, who is now a Lieutenant Colonel (Res), Antipolo City Prosecutor Mari Elvira B. Herrera, who is now also a Lieutenant Colonel (Res), actor and balladeer Ronnie D. Liang who was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant (Res).
“As the Philippine Army’s deployable force in times of national emergencies, our reservists brave the dangers of natural and human-induced calamities and confront the pervasive effects of Covid-19 pandemic. This requires our reservists to possess higher levels of dedication, passion, and responsibility of service to our people and our nation,” Brawner said.
He also reminded the reserve officers to uphold their commitment to the organization, the Filipino people, and the country.
"Hence, may the ranks that you now bear on your chest inspire you to exemplify the Army’s core values of honor, patriotism, and duty,” he added.
