A man who was arrested for illegal drugs in Taguig City in January turned out to be a member of the Abu Sayyaf wanted for the kidnapping of Jehovah’s Witnesses members back in August 2002 in Sulu, an official said on Friday.

Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, Southern Police District (SPD) director, announced
that Fahad Dumayag, 31, is among the people implicated in the kidnapping in Sulu.

It means Dumayag was only 11 years old when he took part in the kidnapping.

The suspect also took part in the siege of Lamitan City in Basilan in 2001

Dumayag, also known as Abu Cola, was arrested in a sting in Taguig on Jan. 28 that yielded 12 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu valued at P81,600.

Macaraeg said that through a confidential informant, investigators established that Dumayag is a member of the Abu Sayyaf faction under Isnilon Hapilon.

“A victim-witness physically identified Abu Cola as one of her kidnappers and a member of the Abu Sayyaf,” he said.
