Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar on Tuesday directed the Police Regional Office 5 (Bicol) to look into the two explosions that rocked the Bicol University campus in Legazpi City, Albay on Sunday night.
I have issued an order to RD, PRO5 Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo to focus on the investigation on the incident and ensure that the perpetrator will be held accountable, especially that the Bicol University Legazpi campus where the blasts occurred is just in front of the Regional Headquarters of the PRO 5),” Eleazar said in a statement.
No casualty was reported from the explosions that occurred at 6:30 p.m. The PRO 5's Explosives and Ordnance Group immediately responded to the incident.
Eleazar also directed the PRO 5 to coordinate with the university officials to discuss security measures in order to prevent a repeat of this incident.
Even though there are no major activities of students and teachers on campus due to the pandemic, our police still need to be alert against these types of attacks),” he added.
